Editing Guidelines

Markup

Whenever possible, try to use Wiki-style formatting instead of raw HTML tags. For more information on formatting, follow the link at the bottom of the page to Wikimedia's Meta-Wiki.

Categorizing

In order to keep things as organized as possible, be sure to include a Category link in each article. (The format of a Category link is [[Category:<categoryname>]].) Try to use the existing categories when possible, but if the article just doesn't fit, by all means start a new one. However, if you don't think it's likely that more than one article will be placed into the new category, it may be better to just leave it uncategorized.

Category pages automatically list all of the articles that have been tagged as members of the category, so it's not necessary to add them manually. The body text of a category page should just explain what the page is, e.g. "Articles and sub-categories related to X."

Summarizing

When you've finished adding or editing an article, take a few seconds to note your changes in the Summary field. A brief sentence or two will do.

Minor Edits

An edit should only be tagged as minor if it's something like correcting a spelling error, or changing punctuation. Minor formatting changes and rearrangement of text is also OK, but in general if you're moving text from one section to another that's not a minor edit. Adding, deleting, and changing text are also generally not minor edits.

Signing

Please sign any additions you make to Talk pages with the ~~~~ notation; this will automatically put in your username and a timestamp. Please don't sign additions or changes to actual articles.
